Ahmad J.S. Al-Himyary

Ahmad is a native of Baghdad, Iraq, and is fluent in Arabic. He grew up in Kuwait and first came to Canada in 1984 to enrol at UBC. He immigrated with his family to Canada in 1986 and acquired citizenship in 1990.
Ahmad began his immigration practice in January 2005, immediately after he was called to the BC Bar. After earning a B.Sc. from UBC in 1990, Ahmad worked for few years as an immigration officer with Citizenship and Immigration Canada in 1990s before he enrolled in law school at the University of Ottawa. He graduated with an LLB. in 2003 and completed his LSBC articles under the mentorship of several senior immigration lawyers including Catherine Sas, Bediako Buahene, Ali Yusuf, and Fiona Beg.
Ahmad handles all sorts of Canadian immigration matters, including tourist visas, student permits, LMIA and Treaty based (LMIA-exempt) work permit applications, inland or overseas refugee claims, extension of status, federal and provincial immigration routes (economic and business/entrepreneur), family class immigration, citizenship grant applications, deportation matters, inadmissibility matters, and matters before the Federal Court (Judicial Reviews, Mandamus, and Stay of Removals).
Ahmad travels frequently to the Middle East to meet clients and to connect with freinds and associates.
